PLDT will be conducting emergency maintenance for five (5) days that will start on September 25-30, 2020. During this maintenance period, there will be degraded to no internet connection. The reason for this long maintenance is that they need to fix their Fiber Cable on their Asian American Gateway or AAG for short.
According to research that I gathered. The AAG connects Asia to the US. It is about 20,000 km long fiber optic cable submerge in the ocean. The emergency maintenance will start around 8:00 AM in the morning on September 25 up to 5:00 AM on September 30, 2020.
With this news, PLDT subscribers will experience a degraded to almost no internet connection in some areas. Many of PLDT subscribe will have to wait for around five days to get a stable internet connection back.
Last September 19, 2020, there was a sudden drop/degraded performance of PLDT and SMART. A lot of subscribers and businesses experience the loss of internet connection, as well as SMS/Call service, and most areas in the Visayas and Mindanao had experienced this massive connection degradation.
